DID YOU MARRY A MAN-BOY?
October 9, 2007 at 2:41 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentBaseball playoff are underway. It seems like just yesterday I was blogging about the season starting. My, how time flies. Playoffs are a big deal at my house. I wore my lucky Red Sox jersey today and every thing. Yes, I wear jerseys (a lot) and have lucky clothes and wear my team’s colors on gameday. Trust me, I am not a face painter, but I do get in to the spirit of things. Besides, admit it … you too have lucky clothes. You probably even have routines – like in the morning – and if your routine is broken, your day has the potential to go wheels off. For example, in the shower, I always lather with my back to the shower head, then turn to the right to rinse. If I turn to the left, I know I’ll have a bad day. Does that make me crazy? I think not. I had lunch today at a very expensive restaurant today and I realized something: I truly am a man-boy. I am 32 years old, but still wear sneakers and baseball jerseys to work! Now, I have a cool job that enables such college-aged freedom of expression, but at some point you just become a sorry man-boy. When every on else is wearing a suite, you can’t help feel like that. Maybe you dress up for work and hate it and wish you could dress down like me. Sometimes I get strange looks like I’m the homeless freeloader and wish I had a suite on. But, then again, I’m a man-boy.
Back to baseball (another hard-hitting man-boy topic). The BoSox finished 1st in MLB this season, so they’ve got a good shot. They play tonight against the Angels. This will determine my mood for the next few weeks. I’m actually up and down with my team. However, the Sox have been good lately, so my spirits have been high. Plus, my fantasy football team is 4-0, so I’ve been extra-smiley. I thought when I turned 30, I wouldn’t act 20 any more. The truth is, I act more 20 now, than I did when I was 20! My poor kids!!! And my poor wife… now I know why she gets frustrated with me when she comes home I’ve purchased a drum set. She married a man-boy and today I reached that new level of self-awareness. Go Sox!
